I did some searching on rebuild turbos cuz mine is on its way out. I had see some things on gpopshop and was just wondering if anyone has gotten a turbo from them and what they thought

yeah i am really hard on the car...I think I am going to go for it and order the turbo from there. Ill let you guys know the resaults in a few weeks

 

we had a post about this a while ago... i think the verdict was it had a k04 wheel in a k03 housing... so it didnt flow quite as much as a full k04, but flowed better then a k03

 

I know this post isn't about this particular topic but since lazer brought it up If a K03 is rebuilt into a K04 spec turbo. and it doesn't "flow" as much as a full K04 would you foresee any problems in upgrading the ECU to full K04 programing.
Hey, theguy1084, I would defiantly do the upgrade - G-pop will charge you $425 + $25s/h to upgrade your current turbo to K04. maybe you wouldn't have to beat on it that much if it could do more.

 

it depends wether it was a basic k04 file, or an agressive file

if its an agressive file.. i would imagine you would get a bit less performance.. and the turbo probably wouldnt last as long

kind of like running k04 software on a k03, but not as severe
thats my understanding of it.. i really dont know for sure, so take it for what its worth

 

one thikng to worry about: i can turn my k03 into a lighybulb in 5 minutes. if you had the same housing, but bigger impeller meaning more air meaning more gas meaning mroe exaust, i think u could not just turn it into a lightbulb, but also illuminate ur garage with it.

btw, what did you dyno with that setup?

 

When I talked to jerry from gpopshop he told me that it flow just a bit more then a true k04 because the wheels is larger.....?

 

the wheel migt flow more.. but the housing will limit it
