Default gas smell

I need some expert advise !
I have a 2000 A4T 1.8. The timing belt and water pump were changed with all the other belts. A day later the CEL went on and the tech said it could be an evap line leaking. We had noticed a gas smell before coming from the trunk area. Any suggestions in trouble shooting the problem ?

If the code is P0455 16839 it could be a loose gas cap.
It could also be an evap hose leak.

If cell is on, get the code. No sense in playing "guess me" because a lot of things could be causing it.

cant argue with the smoky but can with their cost why cant they fix it when they find it, we all have to make a profit but this is stealing, im sure you would pay for a fix rather than a cheat, smoke test is a load of crap
