I would like to know Audi recommends that we use 91 octane rated fuel
But we have a Knock sensor that Advances and retards timing according
to driving conditions and load on the engine to avoid Pinging and Detonation
So If I had to use say 89 wouldnt the engine adapte to the fuel and adjust itself ?
I guess I would get less power but wat other problems would I get by use a less rated fuel?

Well, yes it would. It would retard the timing as much as it could to prevent knock. This would decrease power and mileage. And the system can only retard the system so much. Is saving a dollar on each tank worth it?

if u dont use 91 it will also gove u dirty injectors (depending on where u got it from). My audi mechanic said that it would be stupid not to use 91 b/c the cost of fixing anything that broke would be more than the money u saved.
