So I have a chance to get back into the Audi game. My Focus is just fine, but I figure I need some direction here...

A guy wants my A4 as it stands for $650. He dismantles VWs/Audis for a living.




Mind you I've sold most of the interior, the exhaust system, the alt and a few other things. The whole drive train is still there, and the body panels are decent, and the top end of the engine is fine.

He also has this Audi 90 with an Audi 5000 turbo engine in it:






Info:
- Rebuilt 2.2l
- Good turbo
- New clutch
- No AC (wouldn't fit)
- CE light on sometimes
- For $200 I can push 1.9 bar
- One window doesn't go down
- Can't easily get into the trunk
- Dirty as hell interior

So what should I do??? Should I buy this 90 for $900 (what he wants in trade for my A4 as well), or do I take the cash for my A4 for $650?

do it! strip out the crappy old interior, and throw some racing seats in there, and rally it, thats what it was made for, it would be a fun project since you have a reliable daily driver.

 

clean the interior, pimp it out, and sell it for a profit.

 

See if he would knock the price down some for the defects you mentioned. If not just go for it and strip it like everyone else said. You could have a nice little toy project.

 

650 for some of the parts you have laying there(the car) isn't alot, but i sold a bmw 320i with a blown motor for 500 so i might have been stupid too......

but if that car runs good and is reliable, i would take it

so all you have to come up with is 200 or 900 on top of the 650 for your car?


if that is the case, you should have picked up a motor for your car and kept everything else

i can't really answer seeing as i am not the one in the perdicament, but if it was me, and my car was in good shape but the motor was trashed, i might have looked at a used engine

 

That's the thing - he's been real weird about it. We agreed on 850, but now he wants 950 to consider it, and I bet I can get him down to 900. I know my A4 is worth it to him, as he lives a few hours away... and it's mostly there minus the interior.

 

I considered a used engine back in August but it wasn't economical for me. I've made $2500 off parts off my A4 already, so I'm sitting well...

Yeah 900 for him to take my A4 and drop off the 90 to me. I can put $200 on the ECU/WG spring upgrade whenever I want.

 

IMO the 90 is fugly............but we all have different tasteI guess. If I were you, I would buy another B5.

 

^ not buying another B5 - for a LONG time... I just figure i have the dough to do this.. and you better believe 13.4lbs/hp will be a FUN thing!
