GFB BOV questions.
When I get that CHIP (if I do) I would want to accompany it with a GFB Hybrid BOV. The hybrid is split 50/50; 50% recirculates, 50% is vented into the atmosphere. People say BOV's cause the check engine light to come on and backfiring... GFB claims they have fixed this problem. I dunno how many of you have BOV's.. maybe you can recommend something or if you have GFB, tell your story about it.
Also, I have no clue how to install the lil guy. Could someone give me an idea where the stock valve is?

OK... you need to search the archives on this before you get flamed. The BOV vs DV argument is well documented. There is a diagram of the DV location that I posted in one of the threads, too.
The GFB BOV is an unorthodox and interesting idea, but the manufacturer does not prove scientifically that the unit does a true 50/50 split with recirc and vented air. Furthermore, there is no evidence that the recirculated air is proper for the MAF readings. Many of us are very skeptical about this issue. There is a greater chance that a CEL and damage to components is inevitable - it may be delayed from what a regular BOV might cause, but it is inevitable.

well you can get one for about the same as a billet bpv if you look on ebay.
also, consider this, if i get a neuspeed chip which is known to run the engine on the lean side (for engine longevity) and i get a hybrid valve (which run the engine rich) wouldnt the side effects be minimal?
wouldnt the 2 somewhat cancel eachother out?

Yeah, that makes sense as far as the exhaust goes, but isn't there a concern of increased heat in the engine from running lean? I had my S-10 running fairly fat to help keep engine temps down, in addition to a cooler t-stat.
I had a GFB Valve on my 1.8t for about 6 months, I absulutly loved it the sound was just perfect not overbearing or underherd! I left it set at 50/50 and never had a problem with my check light or backfire! there is no performace gain at all but for me was totaly worth getting! Im planning to get a s4 with 2 GFB valves installed i herd one with full blowoff and it sounded like a freken jet gonig bye thou i will only keep it on 50/50 but should be just enough! for me hope this helps.
