Default good/bad

Well put in a boost gauge today and went for a spin. When i drop the hammer i spike 18-20psi then drop down to 10psi. (thinking boost leak) Problem is I dont know what kind of software this car has if any. I assume its chipped since its spiking 20psi. & holding 10psi. I tapped the foot long vac line that goes from under the intake plenum to the side (front side of motor) of the intake plenum.

The guy I bought it from didn't know much about the car other than its always had synthetic oil, upgraded cluch & has the sport package.

Over time i discovered that it has a K&N panel filter and AWE trans bar.

At idle im at 18psi vac when i punch the gas i spike 20psi then drop to 10psi if i keep the gas to the floor.

I took the car for about a 4 mile drive. 2 miles to the store and 2 back and the same readings both ways

It could be your N75 catching up to the boost spikes. You might want to try a mbc. A leaking dv wouldn't hold 20psi.

Well i almost bought a forge dv and n75j should i wait?

Could this be a leak in the air line?

What's a good price for the mbc?

Doubt it's a leak. You wouldn't peak off like that if it was a leak. You're going to need a dv with that much boost.

edit- Can you hear any leaks? Like when the spike goes away?

It's really loud when im under boost but i dont hear it when im just crusin. My air box is "stock" and it sounds like the noise is on my side of the car not the passenger side.

Does it do it when you rev the motor? Have a friend gas it while you peek under the hood.
