Default Is this a good buy?

Okay i'm new to the forum and I've been reading a lot in the past few days about the 1.8T and the 2.8. I was wanting to know about theaudis from guys that know it from A to Z and I think this is probably the best forum to ask a question to because you guys all areaudi fans right

First of all im definitely a v6 guy and i'm looking forward to buy an audi.. i found these ones
http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=26354207&pgno=1&srt=1
http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=26334117&pgno=1&srt=1
http://www.canadatrader.com/result/detailinfo.aspx?ID=26281900&pgno=2&srt=1

I wanted to know what should I look for when i go do a test drive and humm what are the mechanical points to be looked at when u buy an audi that old with kinda low KMs.

I know I should ask if the cam seals and the actual timing belt have been done.. but what else. Cuz like pretty much everybody I don't have unlimited money so. I know these cars are pretty expansive to fix usually cuz its an import.. Is it easier to find pieces for a 2.8 than it is for a 1.8t, i read the 2.8 between 1996 and 1998 break a lot.. I heard the clutch kits are a lil bit stronger in the 2.8 (made for 200hp+) is that true? I heard the engine bay is pretty tight and hard to work into.. I'm a do it yourself guy pretty much.. I can't get extended warranty on the car wich i think is a bad thing.. Would and inspection at an audi dealership reveal a lot? Whats the best thing to do

is 13000$ Can too expensive for the car? It's lady driven, so when I hop in it and drive it differently will it tend to brake on me?? so many questions sorry I want the damn car.. I dont wanna mod it to death but maybe chip and it and put an exaust on it, air filter, etc. and maybe put a G2 in there overtime..either way will i have fun?

Thanks! [/align]

if you are even thinking about modding go for the 1.8t

you'll catch the bug and be s.o.l when you cant do anything more

ask about controll arms.. ask for maint records on everything

umm yea the link takes me somewhere funny but not a car lol.... either is gunna be a good choice man and it sounds like you really want a V6 so you should probably go fir the 2.8....... i dont know what year you were looking at but 99.5 and new is the best IMO cuz of the newer stuff on the body, like headlights hood looks better, and that fun stuff.... and later when you do want more power the G2 would be bad *** man, and i guess from there you might be screwed if you want even more power cuz you might have to do nos or something

yeah, i would go with the 1.8t for the pure fact thet you can tune it. I too am a V6 fan, but there isn't **** you can do to it. My 2.8 has been running perfectly since i have had it. nice and strong.

the 2.8 is more reliable so to speak.... I dont have any desire to mod, but i bought my 1.8 because i got a good price. Do not settle for the first A4 you see... there are quite a few out there.........

I almost was thinking to the one with the warranty at 10,000$ but i dont know yet how much mileage is on it the guy is unreachable
Anybody in alberta, canada that could point me towards any good a4? Cuz i might go with a 1.8t if its mint and i got a good log of all the maintenance that's been done on it!

there is a lot moreyou can do to the V6 engine if you have the money and/or time than people on this forum seem to realise, but expensive. The 1.8t is fairly cheap to pmod, but expensive to keep going once tuned imo, small engine, bigger turbo, higher bhp = breakages

Theres the PEG supercharger kitfor the V6, you could get your cam polished if you can do it yourself, or know any precision engineers (my dad is one), you could add a wet nitrus purge system, and im sure theres more that engineers could add to this list, of course many of them arent bolt ons, and the ones that arebolt onsare expensivebut impossible is nothing.

I drive a B5 v6 now, and im upgrading to a B6 V6 soon, because i love the smooth acceleration, the constant torque, the sound and all the other v6 benefits.
