good buy?
so I have been doing my research...this site is great. I read your "noob" threads a few times and have decided that I want to go with a 1.8t. I have found one near by and wanted to know what you think as far as price and anything that may stick out as bad or good?
Audi 2001 A4 auto,69k,4 Cyl. - 1.8 Turbo, All Wheel Drive, gray leather heated seats, pwr sunroof, locks, and windows, alloys, $10,895
the only thing that I have noticed is that the previous owner apparently didn't take good care in washing it. it has a lot of minor scratches and it looks like the dealership tried to buff it out and now it has swirly scratches. for the most part the scratches don't seem deep although their is one on the passenger door that is down to metal. are these little scratches and swirls something that can be fixed? I assume the big deep scratch is something that I will have to deal with.
thanks guys

i know i know...manual is better...i get crap from all of my friends about it...but i hate them. i guess i'm lazy. aside from the fact that its an auto does anyone have anything else?

what about the paint?
Well, it has that automatic problem....
and you're going to need to change the timing belt ASAP. The paint, we can't see, but the swirls can probably be fixed.
don't be lazy, learn to drive a 5spd. If you don't, you'll miss out on all the heel toe'ing, double clutching, big turbo fun that the future may hold for you, and you will be stuck with a puny little K04.

i can drive a 5 speed. my wife's car is a 5 speed and when we take her car i drive it. i just hate it. i hate being stuck in traffic and constantly going from 1st to 2nd and back. i would rather just put in gear and leave it. plus almost anything will be better than my slow piece of poo that i drive now.
