Good News - Clear Corner Mod for 2-Piece Headlights!
I was browsing the DIY section and I found a post from sandman about replacing the 2-piece headlights on earlierA4'swith a 1-piece kit from ECS Tuning, and at the bottom it had a link to the ECS page which has the kit for sale. I clicked the link and scrolled down a ways and found a much simpler solution - they have replacementcorner markers for the 2-piece head lights which are already clear. Looks to me like you just pull out thecorner pieces and put these in their place, and voila! Clear corners. A little farther down, they also have clear side markers for the fender lights near the doors.
Considering that fitting a 1-piece kit is A) difficult (requires wiring mods and cutting into the fender a bit) and B) expensive ($440 for both headlights), thesecorner-only mods seem like a better way to go. The clear corners to fit in with the 2-piece head lights are $80 for the pair, and the side markers are $40 for the pair. They also have the later B5 tail lights (without amber, just red and clear) for $110 each. As a plus, it looks like allof these kits include all thenecessary bulbs. So as long as you're not dead-set on the look of the 1-piece lights, you can do clear cornersAND clear side markers AND upgrade the tail lights for $100 less than the cost of justthe 1-piece head lights. Which I think is awesome.

Fitting a pre-facelift A4 with one-piece headlights is not hard at all. I personally have done it with both of my A4's. The looks of the one-piece headlights are amazing and also alot brighter than the stock two-piece lights. It also doesn't 'need' a wiring modification, because you can simply remove the wiring harness from the stock lights and use it in the one-piece lights (I will admit that this isn't exactly the most professional way, but its easy and it works). Like I said, I've done it on both my cars, and would do it again if I bought another pre-facelift car. Just my .02
