Yes they can, but it all depends on the driver and what type of driving/abuse the turbos must endure. Most do not have problems, but, over time, anything could happen. Just be good to the turbos - let them cool down after hard runs. Keep the engine tuned properly/regularly. Always use synthetic oil like Mobil 1.

Well said. And if your turbo and chipped I would suggest 15w50 Mobil 1 in the summer.
