Default Good price for labor to flash ECU

I have a GIAC and an APR dealer nearby. The GIAC charges $60 in labor for the flash, while the APR charges $95 for the flash. Do these sound right? Sounds a little steep to me, since i understand it only takes about 10 minutes to do.

Also, they want to charge me $160 to install a tt225 diverter valve. Isnt' that the 710n that costs only about $40? Does $120 in labor sound right?

Depends on what year you have? 97-99.5 is a solder in chip that takes more physical effort to install and i can imagine it would be more expensive than a 2000-01 where all they do is take the ecu out and bench flash it.Those 2 places mayhave different labor ratesas well.. My labor for my flash was about $60. You say they want $160 to install the DV... Is that for the cost of the DV AND the install??? Either way, yes, its a rip off. Id get the 710N (TT DV) and DIY for about $40.
Please list your car specifics when asking technical questions

The actual cost of a chip is $400-$500 depending on wether its 97-99.5 solder or a 00-01 flash... not including labor and taxof course. I was out the door with my chip for about $575, I think.

You can order it from AWEtuning.com they pay all shipping to overnight it both ways and don't charge an install fee.

My guy told me 710Ns will blow off after 1,000 miles? He said go with Forge 007ps. What should I go with?

01' Audi A4 1.8T

Also, this is pretty much my quote.

$499 for the Flash
$135 for the Forge DVs
$50 to install the Forge DVs + Im guessing the labor for the Flash is included in this.

$499 +$135 + 8.25% Tax =$686.31

$686.31 + $50 Labor = $736.31 total

A 710N should last a lot longer than 1000 miles. Smack your friend accross the mouth for me...[&:]

Sorry, I thought I added my car specifics into the sig. line at the bottom. I have a 2003 a4 1.8t quattro. That's also why i used the words 'flash' instead of 'chip'. So, does $60/$95 sound reasonable for only a flash?

And the $160 is for the part and labor (for the DV).

for a 710N dvand labor, $160 is rape. Id take my business somewhere else just because of that.. Its insulting. The part costs $35, and takes 10-20 mins to install with no special tools. $95 is about right for labor and tax for the chip. Still sounds a little high though.
