Got in an accident...have a question...
So I rear ended a Nissan pickup today and left his truck virtually unscathed but totally messed up my front end. I'm leaking coolant and tranny fluid...my headlights are pushed in, the hood is totally screwed up...it won't even open...and the bumper is all scratched up...don't have pictures and I did it about an hour away from my house...anyways I am wondering if anything that got messed up is in the similar price range to any other upgrades? For example E-Codes over stock headlight housings if they'll replace em...Anything anyone can think of? And do you think the insurance company would be cool with that...
it depends on what shop you take it to...and also whether or not your insurance company uses OEM part prices, in which case ecodes are probably less money than two brand new headlights from the dealership...sounds like you've got some pretty extensive damage...find a good shop and they can DEF hook you up...
someone hit me in the front, i got a greddy front mount, vis carbon hood, eco intake and a rs4 front bumper. i had to pay a little extra but for the most part insurance paid for it. after insurance rites u a check just see how much they gave u for each part then go from there
Thanks guys, making me feel better already...yeah the damage was a lot more than I expected from a super low speed...damn high bumpers...I remember reading about a law trying to get passed to have a universal bumper height...I swear if I hit a sedan it would probably be a knicked up bumper and I could have avoided reporting it...I think I'm gonna take it to Autotronics in Royal Oak, MI by where the car is right now...when I was heading to the place I was going I saw they had plenty of VW, Audi, and other German cars with damage...always makes you feel good feeling like a shop "specializes"...I'll definitely have a chat with them...plus the cop said they were great...this is my first accident in about 7 years so a new insurance company and a new way of doing it probably...I'll have to wait and see how this whole thing works out...
That royally blows man. Typically, insurance companies just write you the check and are done with it. What you do with it is up to you. The insurance company will cover you for OEM parts, for they assume you will be taking it to Audi themselves. So yeah, you'll be getting a couple things for cheaper.
I never thought it would work that way...my beautiful B6...I always thought you got a quote and they refunded to shop the charges...if they are gonna cut me a check to do the repairs then I will definitely be changing some things around for sure....I guess I'll hear from the adjustor before noon tomorrow to see what they say...and I just got her running in tip top condition...was going to set up a chip for a few weeks from now...I bet my car will take that long...this sucks...plus I hate to see what the premiums are gonna be when the six months of my insurance runs out in September...this will be my only blemish so hopefully it won't be too bad...
Depends on the insurance company you work with. I have a couple friends with State Farm (is State Farm just Canadian?) and an adjuster just heads out, checks the damage, and cuts a check. Another company my friend was with, the insurance company looked over the entire process, so he kinda got screwed... in that he couldn't screw the insurance company i guess.
Okay so here's what I am looking at:
OEM Headlights they are allocating about $410
I want these:
E-Code Halogens
But they are not in stock...where else can I get these for this price? LLTek has em but for $600...
Then I get a new hood, new grills on the hood and bumper, and and OEM Bumper replacement.
If I get an aftermarket bumper replacement I need an OEM fit and relatively close to the price range of the stock OEM one. Anybody have an idea of what would look good and where to go...it has to have same mountings and fits for everything around the bumper...otherwise I might just stick with stock...
