Default Got the news today...

I'm pregnate. Ok, jokes aside, I got the call from the mechanic today. They say my tranny fluid looks shot, and my tranny needs to be replaced. Now I'm gonna call them back tomorrow and see if the whole tranny is shot, or just the valve body (since I know nothing about this, and I would rather spend less money) Do any of you know anything about what happens when the tranny fluid fails to do it's thing in an automatic? Does it screw over the whole tranny, or just the valve body? Any imput would be much appreciated

I've got my fingers crossed that it isn't your tranny....I do know that tranny fluid can last 100's of thousands of miles, unless you have a bad seal and other junk is getting in there....If you only need to replace valve body, I have heard that there's a company that makes an aftermarket deal that can handle more power(I know there are a few peeps on here who know more than I do about the aftermarket valve bodies)....

good luck!...hopefully it's not too major!

lol valve bodys dont go bad man, ifthe tranny fluid is showing something its showing either metal particles or friction material, either way it means rebuilding the tranny sorry to give you not so positive info man

Believe it or not When I had my ford exploder my tranny was slippin so I took it to the dealer and 1200$ later I had a new valve body and the problem was solved(and no this was not an adjustable tranny)....

that's the only reason why I thought you could replace the valve body (because i had mine replaced)
