I always taught that when you get a synthic oil change it was suppose to last up to 5000 miles... Could the oil change place have made a stupid mistake?

I work at a tire/lube shop, and no matter what oil we use, we're still told to fill out the sticker for 3,000 miles or 3 months. Even if we use Mobil Extended performance, which according to Mobile is good for 15,000 miles and/or 1 year. We have a guy in a ford pickup, who uses Mobile 1 with a Motorcraft, filter come in every 2,500 miles, that's just crazy for a car that takes nearly 7 quarts.
It's just the shop trying to earn business.

yeah, shops just do that to get more business from you. If you aren't informed as to how long your oil will last when you use something like a synthetic oil, then they can get you to come in more often and pay more for your oil changes. I would just go every 5000 if you are using a synthetic.

yeah dude, they say come back in 3000 miles regardless. that way you pay them for twice as many oil changes. one thing though, and maybe someone else can comment on this, I would NEVER trust a garage or oil change place to put synthetic in my car. NEVER. you can't prove that they did or didn't and its cheaper for them to use regular oil. sketches me out. needless to say I do my own oil changes.
