what would be better for a 98 a4 1.8? my friends have told me hks and greddy but they are all honda guys so i wanted to get a second opinion. im looking for something smooth and deep and as far away from "rice" sounding as possible.

I recently got the Borla system for my 1.8t, and i love it. It sounds amazing, but it isnt that loud annoying ricer sound, its a low rumble. Much more refined and muscular sounding. It also makes the car feel much mroe agressive, with an impressive 15 HP gain with stock chipping. ( i have heard from a dealer that that is at teh wheels, but he was also comming off a high, so i dont trust him).

It fits exactally into the stock exaust mounts, and install is a breeze. There was only one problem. The 3 bold flange clamp, where the exaust downpipe bolts onto the cat, it is a BITCH to get to, and i had to bring it to a shop where there was an impact wrench.

Everythign else is great. It comed with everything you will need EXCEPT for a replacement casket for where it bolts onto the cat. I suggest buying some gasket sheet and just cutting it out for your flange. Other than that, you can order the part, but i was too actious to wait

well worth the money you will spend.

i have greddy and I love it! It is not rice sounding on my car. Its a very deep sound but it rips when you floor it. Sweettttttttttt

 

what year is your 1.8? i cant seem to find a borla for my 98. ive checked websites and they say its not particular for 98, just 99 an up. i appreciate the info.
