You're quick on the uptake -- that was basically my point.

If they didn't feel Audi was in the same class, and a threat, then they wouldn't say anything (wouldn't need to).

And really -- BMWs are really sweet rides. Both of my previous cars were BMWs -- had an '84 318i that was replaced by an '83 533i (which was a really sweet car up until about 250K miles).

My dad has a '95 M3 that he's had about 8 years and it still runs great. He was contemplating replacing it with an '05 M3, but he doesn't like the new transmission (he likes the standard old fashioned stick shift -- no paddles). Anyway, he opted to throw a Dinan supercharger on it..............FASSTTTTT!!!!!

Anyway, I figure as long as I keep a nice German car that I'm still keeping the faith. I do love the Quattro though -- AWD is the shizzle©!

Question...which organization decides world car of the year? Is it car and driver or some euro magazine, just curious. I must admit thats a pretty clever stab at Audi, but if BMW wasn't worried then they wouldn't even mention Audi. IMO they are both awesome German cars, I'm still gettting use to the Bangle design of the new BMW and the Audi front end, but they are both pretty sweet to drive...heck its german engineering you can't lose either way. Besides a little rivalry is good, just look at the quality of both auto makers today.

Man thats funnny! I sent it to my dad (BMW owner) he liked it of course. (I love BMW as well!)
I gotta agree with you K1196A, BMWs are great cars. From everything I have heard they last
for yearsss. I was going to pick up a '98 328is 5-speed with 43k on it...But went with my A4 insted
for its AWD. Much love to German cars. Much love.
