Grooved Schocks

Grooved Schocks
So I wanted to buy the H&R springs with Bilstein Schocks, but I am not sure which ones to get. Something about grooved shocks. I have a 2001 2.8Q, how do I check to see if I have grooved shocks?

OK, now I am really confused. I thought the H&R sport and Bilstein shocks were the way to go. I am not that big a fan of coilovers (I will never adjust them), so I wanted to buy good springs and shocks. I have no clue what to do now.

Go with this i had them on my other audi there great. Bilstein sport (touring cup) struts and depending on what kind of drop you want you have alot of choices. H&R, Intrax, Eibach and a few other off brands. I had Eibach and they were okay but they didnt drop it as much as i had hoped for.

I know the Bil shocks will be great, but I am not sure which springs to go with. I know that the 2001 S4 has a drop difference of 40 mm? I would like to drop the car somewhere around 1.5 ". Thanks for all you help.

RE: Grooved Schocks
screw grooved shocks.. just get some coilovers...
You may never change your coilovers but the one thing about spring/shock combos is that they give you a "raked" look. Where the front is lower than the rear. I personally do not like that. The coilovers let you choose your initial height as well... as w/ a spring/shock combo you are stuck with what you get.
Get some Stasis/Koni coilovers for 1k.
They are not the best but they preform superbly for street and mild track use.
