Default GRRRR

okay so i was pulling into my parking space at school this morning and my steering starts to whine
i get out and look and there is almost no fluid (shlt) well i get done my stuff at school and go to limp home and there is fluid in my spot

so there is a leak i get home and take off the belly pan, rule out the pump and the rack and the high pressure line

then i start the car and turn the wheel and notice the little hose (return line) has a little hole in it... like a mouse had chewed on it

so my question does anyone happen to know the diameter of that hose (so i can patch it with some fittings and hose)

because i am not going to pay 60 bucks for a new one, nor do i feel like tearing enough of the car apart to get to the line on the pump in these sub zero temps.

also i read on audiworld that you can run mobil 1 atf fluid insted of the pentosin stuff, true ? should it be the dextron atf ?
i dont want to go all the way to the audi dealer to pick up that stuff and my dad can get the atf at work tonight

thanks.

When you hit the stops on each side of the rack (wheel fully turned) the low pressure line becomes a high pressure line because the rack releases all of the extra pressure through the low pressure side and would blow the tape off. Make sure to get hose made for the p.s. return lines. Sounds like you should have no problems.

well if thats true then why would there be a designated "high pressure line" with a banjo fitting

and this one is just kinda clamped onto a fitting ?
