My friends were making fun of the cap not coming up all the way and not working properly, I guess it took offense and left. I really am hoping it comes back soon. The hole in the bumper looks like crap.


I know this is a common problem, any quick fixes besides the stealership? And how do I keep it from flying off again, it looks broken.

Or you could head to the dealer. They are pretty inexpensive, but you'll have to take it to a body shop to get painted.

 

Not to hijack your thread but stupid question.. how do I know my '96 a4 (2.8 Quattro) has it(headlight washer thingy) ?

 

Mine doesn't work. I've had a wee look inside, and from what I can see through thre gap there are two nozzles, but they don;t come up when the washers are on. I think they are hydraulically done, with the water pressure. Is there a way of fixing it?? (Of course, I may not have them and I may be peering under the cap thing and seeing something else. How would I know, like the chap above asked?? 99.5 1.8TQTip)

 

i'm pretty sure every A4 has headlight washers...there should be two 3"x2" squares on the bumper right in front of your headlights...if they aren't working it's most likely a clogged line, because as you said, toff, they are hydraulic, so the water pressure is the only thing making them work.

The pump on the headlight washers often fails too. There are two pumps....one for the winshield and one for the lights.

 

just cover the hole with duct tape[sm=alcoholic.gif]

 

i have a certified warranty on my car and my headlight washers never came up, i never knew what they were when i got the car, do you guys think the dealer will replace them?
