it could be gunk in the heater core try flushing it both ways, it doesn't need enginepressure for coolant to flow from the nipple its the filler that's higher so creates enough pressure ( atmospheric pressure )

******* david blane...

he's probally all the way in like africa summoning his powers and transfering them to ur heater core from a remote location...

get it vag'd, the vag can detect any abnormal magic influences within a 15 feet of your car...

David Blain has nothing to do with your heat, and a clog in the heater coredoes not defy the laws of physics.

Avant, As explained in the opening post, I did that. Except, no air or water came out of the bleed hole. That says there was no pressure. Now, I suppose that if the core is partially blocked, there wouldn't be pressure on that side. I back flushed it pretty well last year. Maybe I'll do that again. My son overheated the old engine a few months ago. (Hence, the replaced engine)Maybe there is more gunk in the heater core due to the overheating.
I am not sure you a re doing the bleed process properly from what you described.
Unscrew the expansion tank. Pull the hose back from the heater core so the small hole is exposed.
Then, hold the expansion tank up in the air. (engine should be off)
Remove the cap on the expansion tank, and fill with coolant, until coolant starts to flow out the small hole on the the heater core. Even if the core is clogged, once the rest of the system is full, you should start to get coolant coming out of the little hole.
So, keep putting coolant in until this happens. Then put the expansion tank back, and the hose back, and start the car and run the heater and see what you get.

If that is exactly how you did it, and still nothing, then flushing the core sounds like a good idea. Did you use g12 after you flushed it the last time?
