I was told that lettign your car heat in the morning was bad for it! Even though this doesnt seem true i would like sum sorta explanation to why? I told my buddy and he was like yea who ever told you that was an idiot, wtf do they make automatic starters for then? lol kinda makes sense.... Is this bad on audis or all cars, cause i know i couldnt start my old winter beater without heating it (89 Accord Carburated engine)

thanks

We just had a post about this a few days ago. Yes it is bad for your car to warm it up. It says so right in the manual. The reason is when you first start it up and let it idle parts of the engine are not getting any oil which is obviously hard on it. You are suppose to Let the car idle for 30 seconds or so then drive. Only drive under 3k untill the engine shows it is starting to warm up.

The reason for automatic starters isnt for the benefit of the car, its for the lazy *** drivers who don't want to wait for warm air. Your buddy is wrong.

You'll notice that the rpms stay like 300 or so higher when the car is cold. I take it easy untill they settle down to the normal 700-750.

are you saying that after starting the car, don't let it idle for more than a minute? I usually starts it and then wait until the needle falls to 700 RPM. Please clarify.

yeah you aren't suppose to sit and wait that long. Less than a minute. You're suppose to keep it under 3k untill the needle falls to 700 at idle.
