HEEEEEEELP! Nothing WOrks
ok my car was in a body shop for a few weeks and the battery died.. so i need to get the code for the radio i guess these guys were messing with it because it just says safety on it now.. i dont have the code so i have to pull out the radio and get the serial and go to audi.. my question is do i have to reset the radio and how?? UNFOURTANTLY thats not the big issue.. my instrument panel doesnt work at all now. none of the gauge needles move and neither does my temp controls (digital) work. everything lights up normally and it displays the miles i have on the car. is this at all related to the radio? or do i have a bigger issue on my hands? can someone please help!! i need to resolve this asap because the summer is here and i need AC and music
For the radio, assuming that it matches the car, you only need the VIN to provide to Audi and you don't need to remove the radio. You might find the 4 digit code in the lower left hand corner of the sticker in the spare wheel well, or on a small white sticker hidden under the shelf in the trunk. Instructions on resetting the radio are all over the archives, as it is asked every week.
The gauges are a bigger issue, they should work. Did the body shop have any reason to be in the dash? Were they repairing airbags or just exterior work. Sounds like something was disconnected, or perhaps a fuse blew. The dash problem shouldn't be caused by a locked radio.

well yeah ima see wassup with the radio because its the radio that came with the vehicle..
they didnt have a reason to be behind the dash all they had to do was replace the door. since it was hit on the door.. where would the fuses be so i can check?

Ummmm, fuses are in the fuse box behind the cover at the end of the driver's side of the dash. Open the driver's side door and look at the end of the dash. Gently pry the cover off and the fuses are behind there.
Do any of the gauges work? Speedometer? Tach? Oil temp? Water Temp? Clock )if you have mechanical?
Does it light up? Does the central electric screen work at all?
Might want to find someone with a VAGcom and see what is up.

Is the central screen displaying anything other than gear?
It is switched on and off by the switch on the bottom of the windshield washer stalk.
If not, there may be some recoding that could be done with vagcom.
