Hello - looking at Audis few questions
Hi, I recently moved to CO, and I'm looking for a good AWD car. I've been looking at the 7k and under range and I see lots of Audis. I don't see any one in particular yet that I know I want, but I am wondering if they are any stand out things not to buy. Certain years, models, auto/mt, engine sizes. I had a VW TDI that got totaled last weekend. Are Audis like VW's that they are great cars when running right, but to get them worked on costs lots of $. How reliable are AUDI AWD versions, especially the ones with turbos? Like I said lots of questions, any pointers on what to avoid, and look out for would be great.
I think Audis have a better build quality than VWs (even though are under the same parent company). Read the stickies on the forum as there is lots of info.
1.8 engines could have a sludge problem
2.0T Prior to 2008 had a cam follower issue.
2.0T Needs timing belt changed around 100k (some suggest sooner) that will run $800 to $1200 depending where you have the work done.
I have not read about much issue with the Quatro. Seems to be a pretty good driveline system.
I have a 2008 2.0T Quatro just over 130k that I have had no issues with. I changed my timing belt ($900) and replaced a few other items (PCV, diverter valve, etc...). Probably spent less than $500 on those items (and others) in the three years I have had my car.
