Help 02 3.0 quattro vs FWD?
Hi evry body.
Iam from Europe but live here in the statesfor long. The Audi in Europe is great car and never has a problem.
I decide to buy a 2002 Audi 3.0 but I could not chose between quattro or only FWD. Bout cars has the same sport packages but where i am living in South Carolina there is not Audi dealers ( only VW). The quattro is complicated system that help you to be more stable on the road but once you have any problem with it do not fixed. Plus I do not really nead here on south winter quattro.
Please, help me to chose between. I have appointment for this week.
Thank you.

VW has the equivalent version of the Quattro called 4Motion. The two cars are essentially identical and the parts are interchangeable. A decent VW dealer should have no trouble working on the Audi.
But remember something else. Why worry about fixing a car when it isn't broken? If you always think like that then you need a car with crank up windows, no air conditioning, a manual transmission- a very basic vehicle. The other option might be to buy a car from a dealer that has some sort of warranty on it. There are aftermarket warranty companies that will write you an extended warranty (for a fee) on anything that still has a warranty on it. You might spend $12-1500 for the warranty but it would give you piece of mind for the duration.
Good luck with your choice. My wife just got a 2004 Quattro Cabriolet 3.0 (with 12,400 miles!) and we love it. The handling on wet roads is great and even on the dry pavement you can feel the difference.

For a daily driver, FWD would be sufficient. Quattro is great if you live in an area where the weather goes to hell all the time, but if all you have to deal with is a bit of rain every now and again, FWD will be fine. Plus, it's better on gas and the overall cars weight is reduced (3462 lbs 3.0 FWD manual vs. 3583 lbs Quattro manual)
i live in socal and as you know the roads are dry 99% of the time. My bro has a 3 liter passat with 4motion while i just have a 1.8t with fwd. Even though his is jerky as hell (100k miles...abused in the snow where we used to live) I still like driving it because it owns turns with the 4wd.
I really wish my a4 had quattro

Don't buy an Audi if you are not getting it w/ quattro.
