HELP! APR downpipe does not fit. More.....
I'm hoping someone can assist me. I have a 1997 A4 1.8t quattro that has been deemed a "GREY CAR" by Maplewood Audi. I found this out recently when I hadrear brake work done on the car by my service tech. The E-brake cables we ordered did not fit.
The problem now is that the APR 3 piece exhaust I ordered does not fit at the downpipe section. The downpipe hits the right transmission bracket.
There has been no mods to the turbo or exhaust manifold. I had a second pipe sent to the shop, but that doesn't fit either.
Any ideas, suggestions? Anyone heard of grey model audis?
I'll look for the original window sticker, but is there any other way to find out the cars original purchase location?
Any problems with APR exhausts?

The downpipe is from the cat back. The second pipe is the same shape, so it didn't fit any better. The whole exhaust hangs down lower than the OEM exhaust and does not sit up in the tunnel.I have a 5spd quattrowith the sport package.
The choice now is to whether fabricate a different transmission bracket or spend more $ on having the downpipe custom fit.
More suggestions and/or advice is greatly appreciated.
I have pics, butI can't figure out how to insert them into this posting.

your not suppose to put it from your cat to the exhaust tip
please post pics, i think that would be the best.
This is straight form APR's website:
APR's A4 Exhaust is a stainless steel, 2.5" mandrel bent, cat-back exhaust. On an A4, the catalytic converter is bolted to the turbocharger and then the exhaust begins with the downpipe. Unlike most other aftermarket exhausts, the APR exhaust includes a downpipe. This exhaust is very quiet and simply changes the tone of the exhaust to a deep, unobtrusive sound. With TIG welding, fully stainless construction, and CNC'ed hangers, you will not find a higher quality system on the market.
So I think I have it right.
Are you saying to remove the cat and try to bolt directly to the turbo exhaust?
I moved the pictures from an email to MYPICTURES.

I'm waitng fora response from APR and/or ESC tuning where I bought the exhaust from. Is there anyone else out there that has installed an APR system in a 1997-2001 A4 quattro?
I'm going to use carfax later to try and find the car's origin.
