HELP! before I go to mechanic. Misfire?!?
Hello,
Just cruising along this morning all's well until the Check Engine light flashed, then the car started shaking. Several miles later I went to Autozone to get it scanned. The scanner read fault code: P0304 -misfire in cyl #4.
I need to take my car to a Euro mechanic tomorrow and get this worked on. I mentioned to the mechanic that I had my car scanned and all I want is to fix whatever the scanner says needs fixing. He thinks that he needs to scan it again and charge me $165 just to confirm that the problem is a misfire and also so he gaurantee his work. Now, I don't want to spend another $165 on top of what will need to be repaired. So how reliable are these scanners @ Autozone? Should I just have them fix what the scanner says needs fixing, or have them scan it themselves as well? Also, what's usually involved when finding a fault code such as this?
