if its blinking and the car is bouncing around, couldnt that be a nasty misfire? maybe bad coil pack or spark plug?

if I remember right, you cant just plug the cable into the car though, I had my dad make me a pc board thing (he works in electronics and can make them for free). Apparently (according to my dad), it could cause damage to the ECU if you dont use that pc board thing. Ill post a picture of it later tonight if I can find it.

i dont see how it can cause damage to the ecu. and how is the onboard piece ur pops creating protecting it in anyway? also i cant afford that pro kid that you have posted 600 dollars is rediculous. does anyone use the 80$ obd2 serial laptop adapter without any problems?
