HELP .... creek sound from steering column area
(DRUM ROLL PLEASE...) AND THE RESULT IS:
$500 to replace both outer tie rods!!!! sweet! Hopefully I have no more problems in the FIRST month of owning it, or hopefully any other problems I can just order the parts and do myself. I guess welcome to audi ownership right? This car is lucky I like it so much or she would be on craigslist tomorrow :-P
Looks like Im going to have to hold off on the modifications for a while - except for painting the lowers, thats pretty cheap.

WOW $500 - I purchased both the TRE's from Purems.com for $70 and did it myself last weekend. I also think your getting raped since I called Tires Plus and asked them to quote me and they said $400 including alignment. always feels good to have something fixed
Yeah, he said he was going to do the alignment too. Im going to try and fix what I can on my own from now on... RAPED!! I am in seattle so they charge a lot more here for labor I think too.
If you do the tie rod ends yourself, make sure you count how many turns it takes to remove the tie rod ends and install them in reverse order with the same amount of turns and the alignment should be almost perfect.
its kinda weird cause i started having this same problem like 2 days ago to my b5 a4 2.8 and i havent had time to do anythin to even look at it but tonight i finally asked my dad (im 17 not an adult so dont think i still live wit my parents) and he said u should of bought an american car and i told him to screw those american cars but i figured id ask u guys on here and the first post was this so im kinda glad i didnt have to wait to ask cause i got a question answered that was already answered but now its just time to go to a mechanic and have it looked at
I love Doing it yourself - its an amazing feeling, even better when you diagnosed a problem.
