Default HELP-Grease in the oil!?

I have a 96 A4 v6. I open up the oil cap and find yellow/tan colored grease on the oil cap and everywhere inside the motor through the oil cap opening! What the hell is going on? This isnt normal right? Engine runs fine and there is NO smoke. Help me out guys...thanks!

P.S. I did a search and didnt find anything only stuff on how to clean the outside of the engine.

Sludge is a dark oil color, But this stuff looks like yellowish-tan axle grease or something?

if the sludge mixes with the slightest amount of moisture it will eventually turn yellow. To clean it out do a search for seafoam. Use the Vaccume method and oil method.

The oil will turn yellow if the car doesn't run very far, let me guess you have very short trips right? Back when i was in the audi academyall of the test cars had yellow oil under the cap because allwe did were start themand move thema maximum of 100 feet and then turn themoff again. Just use the seafoam treatment and it will be fine.

Is it on the oil dipstick also? Top of dipstick getting rusty? Sounds like you have a lot of moisture inside your engine which usually points to a leaking head gasket. But don't go by what I say I'm not Tech Certified. LOL!

Normal for oil and condensation. Check/clean your PCV system. If it's the samew color on your dipstick you probably blew a head gasket.

So if he blew a headgasket he should have white smoke coming from the tailpipe right? But you are right moisture in the oil will make it turn yellow.

Typically When HGs blow you WILL have smoke. I noticed the same thing on mine then I cleaned/replaced my plastic PCV lines with rubber hose. No problems with that, and no milkshake on the cap - it also might have to do with short trips and low temperatures.
