i have a 2000 1.8t 5spd and i have a forged dv, evo intake, and giac chip and im looking to buy a apr stage III turbo kit, FMIC, and exhaust and i need to know how much my motor and tranny can handle and what i should do to make sure i wont blow my head gasket, so please help

 

i would consider getting the motor built once you reach something around 400hp at the fly. i have seen the guys at tappauto making something like 500+ on a stock 1997 AEB motor.

 

well if want lots of power definitely get motor work. but i think 300ish is pretty good for ur car as long as ur not boosting like 21 or higher

 

The AEB engine can 'reliably' handle 300 hp on stock internals. Obviously all modifications that increase the horsepower/torque will decrease longevity on the engine and other driveline components.

change the internal cams, pistons, intake manifold, throttle body a alot stronger clutch and fly wheel so the transmission will hold but cars that have over 300hp seem to not like being driven alot bc of too much power

 

What are you talking about?

If anything, he would get forged rods, pistons, and the hardware to install those. He doesn't need a cam unless he want's to shift the powerband up, and the even the 034 intake mani on a 2L w/ GT35R wasn't proven to make much, if any power. The throttle body depends on the tune he goes with.

First of all, don't go APR stage 3. If you're set on the GT28 piece it together and save yourself some money.

The general concensus (lol, sp?) is that the tranny can handle 400+hp, with the clutch being the limiting factor, and the motor can handle ~300awhp.

I'm not sure about who offers software for the 2000 engine, but contact unitronics, or ctapp and see what programming they offer for your car, and what you need to run it. Also, contact 034motorsports and see what they can do for you. No offense, but it seems like you should do some more research before dropping that much cash on a turbo upgrade.

 

300awhp should not be problem with stock internals but be ready for suprises

mine survived 337whp at 21 psi and a few days at 40psi go figure
