i have a 99 a4 1.8t. everytime i drive this car for about 15-20 mins. there would be white smoke coming out of the muffler every time i come to a complete stop. the longer i drive the more the smoke come out. i think its the turbo blowing to the exhaust. i need and expert real fast!!! i hope its nuttin big. please help me.

 

it's most likely your turbo is goin, the cat comes directly off the turbo.

 

from experience turbos usually blow blue smoke when they are on their way out. It may be something stupid. Can you hear a siren type noise when your acceleration between 1700rpm - 2500rpm?

 

yeah, mine was more of a whitish color, course it was also screaming like a dying seal so there wasn't much question as to whether it was the turbo or not on mine. Is your car experiencing any power losses? (mainly, when you punch the gas does it have more noise than pull?) have you noticed any backfiring/misfiring?

Becareful here because i'm pretty sure the turbo set up on an S4 has 1 small turbo & 1 bigger turbo as most twin turbos cars do. I could be wrong but it's the main reason for having a twin turbo in the first place is to have a turbo kick in when you take off. So if they do fit you will need to get the bigger of the 2. Check the Classifieds on this site. There was a guy selling S4 turbos there.
