Default help me out

im thinking about buying an audi most likley the a4 2.8 quattro
is this a good idea? im young and cannot deal with a car that will give me constant problems.

also. i want to make this car faster because they are a little on the slow side... for me at least. is this worth it, and what can i do besides intake and exhaust to these? im aiming for 220+hp

um unless you want to drop 5k into a 30v then you want a 1.8T. the 1.8T's can be just as reliable but they have more potential for moding.

If you do get a 2.8 though and you want to make it quicker than you must get a 30v (98+), the 12v(96-97) do not have much after market and anything you want to do usually has to be custom work.

I've owned both a 1.8t and a 2.8 and I have to say that if you are looking for something that is more reliable, go for the 2.8 30V. The 1.8 has potential for more problems, and I definatly spent more time fixing problems on my 1.8. So if you dont have a lot of money to spend, but still want an Audi, then the 2.8 is the way to go.

a 2.8 won't give you many problems but also wont give you much power. and upgrades cost a lot and give you little power. if you want power you'd want to get a 1.8T but you get more problems with that engine.

intake exhaust and a chip on a 2.8 will net you roughly 20 hp and set you back over a grand. really not worth it IMO

honestly an audi is not the car for you if you're already having doubts about being able to afford "a car that will give you constant problems". audis are great cars, but chances are that you're going to get something that's close to 10 years old. 10 year old cars are simply not going to be as reliable as something newer, on average.

save your money, buy something fuel efficient... maybe a mkIV golf?

yup as good as they are if you dont think you can afford it you definityly shouldnt buy it, it can totally be a money pit if you get one that has been beat on or you are just unlucky
