I sent this as a PM to arif to get his oppinion but i figured i might as well get everyone's oppinions as well.. Here's my deal:

I am very close to ordering the k04 kit and everything. Im just finding it hard to justify spending about $3k for the awe kit+milltek exhuast for the gains id get. Chip at Auto assets (local tuner) says there is no chip upgrade for the k04 for my "Q" ecu. But AWE says different. It seems i may have to get AWE's ecu/kit to make it work. But its $1800 for my yr. The milltek exhuast which i REALLY want is $800. and a tip chip would be $350.. So thats about $3k for only 40 more hp and 35 more tq and faster changing gears. What do you think? Should i just worry about exhaust/wheels/suspension and skip the turbo/ecu upgrade and spend a little less?

I wont go the J31 file route because im tip and J31 produces almost 300tq. The tip tranny wounldnt be able to handle that reliably without a level10 upgrade which is out of the question. So if i go k04, it would be the basic k04 file (e05 i think).

I REALLY would love more power and the louder spool that comes with it etc. But this is a tuff decision. If i get the k04 and all i wouldnt be able to do appearance/suspension mods for a while... Well I could, but all my "fun" money would be gone.

 

way too much money for such little gains IMO. im goin pc-16 so spending the extra cash will be worth it for me. but just the k04 with the basic file isn't all that impressive. i got in on right now and im just itching for more power. i say jus go with the other mods and make the car look sick

 

Well if i knew i could piece together the k04 kit, and get reflashed, id do that. But like i said, the local tuner says there is no reflash for my "Q" ecu for k04 file. so id have to go with a whole new ecu from awe for example and just get the whole kit. I could piece it together for around $1000, and that would be worth it to me, but then the exhaust would make it closer to $2k total which also doesnt seem THAT bad. I emailed AWE about the ecu but havent heard from them yet. I dont understand how there couldnt be a k04 flash available for my ecu. I think ill just call them now..

 

u really want some more power dont u lol. ya i would jus call them cuz they are slow as hell with email responses and u get better answers over the phone. 2 grand is a lot to spend for only 40 more hp. dont get me wrong, ull absolutely love it when u first get it, but after a while the regular k04 just doesn't cut it for me anymore. hopefully this pc-16 setup will hold me over until i can afford a s4

Thet say it can as they do a trip chip but yes its a little over the top but with some hunting you may find a secondhand unit.

 

wow thats one hell of a kit and one hell of a price! I think id go k04/j31 before that though for the price/power difference. Im sure that the garrett turbo is way better quality/reliability wise though. That kit +exhaust/fmic woud deplete my fun funds though. I think im starting to lean more towards exhaust/wheels/suspension. OR and this is a huge "OR".. I COULD sell the A4, make about $2k back on it, and have $6500 to put down on a B5 S4 and keep about the same payment i have now. HMMMMMMM!!!! The only problem is my wife cant drive a manual and its her credit that got us the a4 anyway. So shed probably be pissed if its her credit that gets us an S4 and she cant even drive it! A tip S4 would be out of the question. Im so confused about what to do with this money that is trying to burn its way through my pocket!

 

Do the exhaust FMIC and save up or hunt around for a cheaper kit.

 

lol i was gona suggest selling the car but i figured you got an auto for a reason. tell your wife to be more understanding lol or teach her to drive stick. tell her ur willing to make a few sacrifices as well. and drop the idea after a full day of wooing and special treatment
