Hey guys, last week, my car started acting up. Everything is normal when I am daily driving, but when I start to get into boost, it will feel normal for a second but then it like hits a brick wall. It still accelerates, but at a much slower rate. My boost guage still reads the normal boost that I was running before this problem. I thought it was a vacuum leak somewhere, but I used three cans of carb cleaner last night on the engine looking for it, with the car up on a lift. there is not a large/obvious vacuum leak anywhere. So now I am about to put a new fuel filter on it, bc I have run this car out of gas three times now...I know..stupid... and I am thinking that all of the crap in the tank has been pulled into the filter......so I am going to replace that when I get a chance, probably not until this weekend, and hopefully that will be it, though I doubt it. If anyone has any ideas please let me know.

No DTC's?? Id start with the fuel filter for sure.. Sounds like its getting the boost but not the fuel.

 

DTC? What is that? And I agree with you on the boost but no fuel theory.

 

Find someone with a vagcom to check for stored codes. Could be a vacuum leak or the MAF

 

Diagnostic trouble code

 

If its the maf go to the dealer its under warrantly up to 80K miles. part of emissions.

 

Are you sure? My car is a 97 w/ 75k.
And for cels, I had some, but nothing related to this problem. My cel came back on yesterday, so I will do it again and post what it says.

 

tell the fault code and we can move on
DTC/CEL/EML/MIL all the same thing
