I just bought a 96 A4 2.8 I reset the computer for a check eng Light that came on. Well when i did this it put my radio into safe mode ... Im not gonna take this thing to the dealer There just going to rip me off. So where can i get this code from ?

 

it should be a 4 diget code in your radio manual

 

Yeah i know ive read that already .... I only have the big manual not the little radio one

 

If the radio manual is missing, it stayed with the original owner. There was a tear-out card with the code printed on it. The card is meant to be taken out and put in a safe place (NOT in the car).

There is a backup sticker found in the spare wheel well. I believe it starts with AUZ----.

If you don't have the card or the sticker, then you're SOL - you'll have to get the code from the dealer. It's no big deal really; take the vehicle serial# to the dealer and they can look it up in a computer in a few minutes.

 

Well I dont have that sticker in my trunk theres a sticker but no number starting with AUZ I called the dealer up and they told me that they no longer can look up codes on the computer. They have to hook that car up and it costs $35 bucks to reset [:@] If they dont get you one way they will get you another

 

I'd try another dealer with the same question; it sounds odd to me. What sticker do you have? Maybe your numbers are different; the AUZ---- was just a guess on my part.

 

Well I got ahold of the previous owner and I got the code I was goofing around with the radio yesterday and i inputed the code wrong twice. Now It wont let me enter my correct code. There is a little II next to the words SAFE so how do i get it to go back into the regular safe mode so i can enter my code into it ?\

I got my radio up and working ! I followed your instructions and punched in the code and BINGO shes up and working
