Hi guys i really need your help... I have a friend who upgraded his headlights and he decided to give me his to put on my car. He has the 2001 model with the projector 1-piece headlights and i would like to put those in my 97 2-piece lights. Does anyone have a DIY guide and will it fit ok? Do i need some wiring kit? Reason being is that the 97 has its lights/highbeam AND the fog lights in that 2-piece assembly....
Help! I dont want to get started until i am sure i wont **** up something!

 

You do know you'll have to shave your fender right? Its actually pretty simple but irreversible. Heres a good DIY http://www.audiworld.com/tech/ext17.shtml the connector on the 01 is different so you'll need to get one. After that just cut and splice/soder the right wires and your good to go. Oh and unless your gonna get independent fogs you'll no longer need the fog wire.

 

I wasnt aware of the trimming part and its making me uneasy. The page you refer talks about this trimming but doesnt go into detail of what exactly needs to be cut.... and the wiring instructions are not all that clear. Is there something else that i can compare instructions...

 

yea if you shearch a little there should be some more diys here and at audiworld and audizine..... and dont worry about the fender triming its not really that bad you just gotta have faith in your self

 

Its actually pretty straightforward, if you take off your corner light you'll see a part of the fender that hides under the light assembly the 01 onepiece won't fit without trimming. Its really easy, just get a grinder and trim that little piece till the lights fit. The one piece has a kind of rectangular female connection, your 97 is circular. The wiring harness that came with the 2001 lights (those projector ones standard on this year) has 3 wires coming out of it. On the picture for a wiring harness there are 4 wires? Why is this so? Also can i alter the old harness, in other words add more wires in or replace the old wires in there already? (They were cut too small)???
