Hey guys....
I need some advice here in regards to a flashing oil light that I have no idea what it means. Im assuming that the oil pump may be failing. The light comes on when I approach a stop, but once I start driving it disappears. I use synthetic oil but I dont know what could be the problem. If there's sludge in the pan that may be causing the oil pump to be failing, how successful will I be with an engine flush that mechanics do???????
Should I replace the oil pump?????
I need a new timing belt will this be the right time for it as well, or would that have caused some of these problems????

Any advice would be really appreciated.......Please help!!!!

stop driving, dont trun the car on!!!!! low oil pressure+motor on=death. have it towed some where that can find the problem do not turn the car on

Its a 1996 a4 with 171,000km
Ill look through them, but do any of you know the possible problems? Im really have no patience at this point cause im thinking about the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ im probably gonna have to spend......

 

By the way, oil pressure is fine while driving. It runs just below half way on the analog dial at 120.

Yes........I had an oil change 2500km ago and its at the correct level.........
What if the oil level starts going down? Would that be an indication of anything other than an F'd up A4??

 

it could be a leaky A4 but it sounds more like an F'd up A4

 

I was reading one of the posts, and it said something about an "oil screen". The car is running fine, and all the oil pressure, levels etc. are normal. Im hoping that the engine flush will do the trick....Are engine flushes usually sucessful?>?
