Default Help Please

Could do with some help from you experts out there. I live in Norway and hane a Audi A4 1995 1.8 Auto, asking for help/ advise from Audi is impossible unless I put it into the garage! The car is a german import with only 73000km (approx 45000miles) on the clock, its pretty immaculate.

Problem 1. Why does it sometimes beep 3 times when I turn the ignition on (manual in german) ??
Problem 2. If someone has done a gearbox oil and filter change is there anything that they could have damaged or loosened that would cause the rev's to increase momentarily by 200 then go back down again to normal again.

The revs on the car increase by about 200/300 when its in drive and between 2000 and 2600 RPM (approx 50mph) then they drop back down to normal. If I drive with the gear shift in 3rd gear the problem seems to dissappear. I can change between 3rd and drive without pressing the button on the shift lever...

Has anyone any ideas, winter is coming and I need this car working?

Thanks

Andy

Problem 1 .... put your seat belt on before you turn the key

Problem 2.... No... this is a common problem with new audi drivers. (I guess you are?) I did it too. I have a96 1.8 tq. It's just you clutch a little to early.... Our clutch grabs very high up.

So it isn't gearbox oil.... It's transmission fluid then. If thats the case, there may be a slight problem. Not too serious though. With an Auto tranny when it changes gears it has to hit a false neutral (same theory as a manual). If it holds in neutral a fraction longer than it should and your accelerating then it will rev up a bit as it would if you were really in neautral accelerating. Make sense?

I have never driven an auto Audi so i'm not sure what to compare it against. Anyone here have an auto audi, that can shed light?

100% buddy. It happends to me alot but i thought it was just cause im ndbw. But you are right. Sometimes when i know the car is about to shift and i accelerate if i catch it at the right time itll rev up and then push through, like a mini clutch drop. Nothing to be worried about. In no time you will start to learn your engine and tranny's personality, and youll be able to drive your car so that it never happends again. Trust me i went through this on my rex and now on my Audi.

Cheers Guys

100% correct about the seat belt :-) Gotta get me an english manual.

I will wait and see what happens with the gears, problem seems to appear after it has changed into top gear and I am sitting at a speed which it cant decide is 3rd or top, I dont have to be accelerating for the revs to suddenly jump up. Guess I am scared it will eventually kill the clutch.

Are there any sensors from the gearbox to ECU that could be faulty? It was cold here last night and when I first drove the car this morning the problem was gone.....It came after about 10min driving.Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.....
