Default HELP! Rotor and Pads labor..

Sorry for the repost but i really need input on this. I know it is a stealership but...$1200 for pads and rotors? $650 being parts and $550 labor?? I have been working on cars since 14 and nothing has taken me 6 hours to do this! ...and that is just about what the labor would equate to. Is that a normal stealership markup?

it took me3 hours to replace the pads and pull off and resurface the rotors. do it yourself if you can. audidiy.com had a very good writeup that i used. the only special thing i needed was a caliper tool to turn the rear piston that was like 35 to rent and i got my money back. the pads EBC greenstuff cost me like $100 from www.autopartswarehouse.com.

EDIT: also a private shop will do it for cheaper if you dont want to do it. NTB the guys i use for everything i can do were going to charge me $200 something labor since i already had the pads. and that included resurfacing the rotors.

Appreciate the feedback but i know how to do it but the car was already at the stealership so i was wondering about the labor time quote. Sounds like bs!

1200 is a complete and utter ripoff. You can get front and rear rotors for about $120 for all 4, and a good set of pads for another $100

I got 4 zimmermann rotors for $190, Hawk HPS pads all around for ($93F + $51B) $144 and stoptech SS lines all around for $117. I got 2 bottles of ATE Type 200 for about $25. Grand total of ~$475 shipped.

It took a few hours to do the work b/c we were missing the caliper piston retraction tool (free rental from autozone) and some other stuff.

I definitely think the price you were quoted for parts is bad, especially for stock parts only and no SS lines! The labor seems a bit long, too. I took a car to my local garage and it took them 2-3 hours. I highly doubt an Audi mechanic can't get a brake job done in 5 hours.

Buy your parts and take it to a Eurotuner to get done.
