Help on tires
I have to put in a good word for tha AVON TECH.
I have them on and LOVE LOVE LOVE them. I've whipped around some corners and driven in wet weather and they are GREAT!
Listen to Chris, he knows what he's talking about.

Well, obviously running winter tires in winter, and summer tires in summer, is the preferred way of doing things... but, if you don't have the room, or don't want to be switching tires over twice a year... then a good set of all seasons is fine.
Winter tires are okay on dry pavement, but I certainly wouldn't want to be driving with winter tires on when the temp gets much above 50 degrees... they will wear very quickly -- plus, winter tires are usually noisy, or at least noisier than all seasons.
So yeah... think about your situation. If you are planning on using a dedicated summer during the summer months... then yeah, buy winters. If you are going to run these tires you're about to purchase all year long... then buy all seasons.
Honestly though, the P-Nero M+S or the Avons would likely make you happy year round. All depends on how much performance your after. Winter tires are more a SAFETY thing, than performance... so think about that too. I always say go winter + summer... dedicated... that is always best. But all seasons have their place, sometimes.

Thanks for the detailed explanation. I finally decided to go with all seasons with Avon tech 235/45/17. I am getting them for 99$ each and shipping charge of 52$. Is that a good idea to buy 4 tires instead of 5? Can I make use of my toyo 225/45/17 when I get a flat tyre on the Avon Tech?
thanks,

Yeah, you can use the Toyo as a spare for sure. Overall diameter will be slightly different, so you wouldn't want to use it for prolonged periods of time -- but as the difference would be minimal, you'd be okay.
... Now that you mention that... I have a 235/45/17 all summer long... and my spare is a 205/55/16 [:-]
Not even sure how the diameters compare... blah, time will tell! Haha, my spare is trapped under my subwoofer anyways...
And yeah, I'd pay 450 for 4 brand new avons... I wish I could get them up here in Canada! Tires are so overpriced, Avon is a Godsend!

I want to thank you all for all the help. I ordered the 235/45WR-17 Avon Tech M550 A/S. I hope I will like them. I got a call from TireRack this morning asking that this number is not recommended size for the Audi...do you really want to go with it? Then I told yes because you all guys recommended that size. I hope I didn't do anything wrong by saying yes.
Guys please confirm that I ordered the correct size.
thanks,
rcil
