Default hesitation at 5500 and up

i am looking at a 98 audi a4 on the internet. the guy says it runs perfect except at 5500 and up there is "hesitation". is this a serious issue or is it just an o2 sensor or in need of a tune up. also it has 125000 miles on it. how long do those cars normally go? thank you

My guess it would be a clogged fuel filter .. or in need of new wires. But fuel filter would be my first choice...

he said that he tought that it might be a rev limiter but that doesn't sound right does it?

naw redline is at 6400 or so.

Anyways, my guess would be plugs/wires.

my car did that when i got it, it had been sitting for several months, old gas plus not being run did it. it hesitated at all rpms under load, it was gone about 2 tanks of gas later

fuel filter doesnt make sense because a fuel filter is either ok, or plugged.

plugs would make more sense.

rev limiter is 6800
