HEY im a newb here trying to change my own oil andi messed up BIG TIME. i drained the wrong oil out, only thing is i dont know what i drained out or where to fill it back up from. i have a 02 a4 1.8t quattro.....I drained the reservoirabout 2-3 feet behind the oil pan i was supposed to drain out. can somebody please reply right now i need help...

 

it's probably the tranny oil. don't drive the car untill you fill it back up. do you have 5 speed or tip?

Go get some approved tranny fluid, not in your car! Gotta find a ride, don't drive it whatever you do!

read it carefully. as for filling it back up, you need a vagcom to monitor the temperature while filling it.

 

im not even sure if its the tranny oil...does anyone have any diagrams of the bottom of the car so i can look at it...any help is greatly appreciated..

 

there's only 2 things you can drain at the bottom of the car. the tranny oil and the engine oil. and what color was the stuf that came out?

 

it was dark/.....also, how do u drain the differentials and where are they located...

 

im not no pro at this obviously but i have a feeling it might be front diff...the oil was really dark. if it is the front diff...where do i fill it from? i know im being a pain but i jusy want to get to the bottom of this....if anyone had diagrams it would help alot.

 

wait a sec, have you check your engine oil dipstick?
