Default HID kit INStALLATION??

I have had some help from a few guys and I appreciate it, but for whatever reason I am having troubling installing the HID kit from Visionbulbs and was hoping for some help...

First, where did you guys mount your ballasts???

And what tools are needed to complete the surgery??

Would you consider the installation easy or hard?

Jeff

I was also wondering where people mounted their ballasts. It looks like there is a place under the headlight but it seems that the vision balllst is too thick to mount it there.

I mounted mine with the brackets that they provided. THere are plenty of bolts that are available to mount them too. I put mine on the side of the lights. Once the headlight is out, its a simple job

Tools:

A torx screwdriver (i dont know the size - I only had a smaller one so I just used a flat head screwdriver and took my time)

thats about it.

Its not hard, just take your time so it looks right.

And you dont have to use the relay - I didnt, so I dont have the light out bulb on my DIS.

How do you not use the relay???

Also, how on earth do you get the stock lights out? I took the screws out but nothing moved.....do I have to do more??? It seemed like I could pull the whole thing out, but I didnt want to ruin anything?

Anyone help me?

On the 2002 there are 4 torx T-30 screws, 2 on top and down in back of the lights.

I just installed a kit on my 2000 and I mounted the ballasts pretty easily.. not the most stealth .. but zip tied them...

drivers side near the power steering tank..and passanger side above the intake on the wheel well..

looks pretty clean .. I may try to fit them under the lights but good fit and safely attached

Like the previous post said, there are 4 torx screws. On the lower screws, only turn them out about 3 turns, these holesare slotted so you don't have to remove them. Also make sure that you are pulling straight out, if not the bottom screws can catch on the edge of the slot and break the ear off the headlight base. I have factory HID, so not sure about where or how to mount the ballist. As always, good luck!

I drilled some holes in the rad support plastic thing. and bolted the ballasts there. you cant even see them when the lights are in. and close enough that the wires will reach. I would say the install is a 3 out of 10. i drilled holes in the black plastic cover thingson the back of the heads and put the rubber gromet to use that came with the bulbs. you can just run the wires out the BOTTOM of the cover also. if you run it out the side you run the risk of water following the wire into the housing and getting fog.
