Well it has to be wired into somthing - backtrack which wires it is spliced into and find what its function is. some idiot try to make a switch that would cut the brake lights so the cops couldn't chase him?

its a 2 pole switch from what I can see so its either off or on and definitely aftermarket and I would guess its something to do with lighting ( possibly fluorescent lights for the engine ) or something similar, trace the wires is also what I would say

found a switch exactly like that on my 3000GT when I sold it last month. Turned out to be part of the after market keyless entry/remote start unit. Mine didn't seem to do anything either.
