Hello. I am sort of a n00b here at AudiForums. I was wondering what kind of difference a HFC will make...I am not expecting the boasts of 20HP + 40Ft*Lbs of torque, but I just wanted to know if the claims were true that a) they give about 8-12HP andaround 30ft*lbs of torque and b) they have better fuel economy over the stock cat. If I'm really not going to notice the difference, I really don't see the point...Any input is greatly appreciated!

 

The stock cat isnt a restriction. You should either leave it or get a testpipe.

 

I have a 2.5" dp and high-flow cat from techtonics, you can feel a slight difference after the install. I would say around 10, maybe 15 hp if you get both the dp and cat.

 

it's as same price as chip even more expensive. get a chip.

 

+1 chip and test pipe is the way to go.

 

I will agree with cincytt and just get a TP becasue they are alot less expensive give you good performance for the money.

 

The problem with going TP is some of us still have to pass emissions. I've looked at the LaBree HFC and its under $300. Magnaflow also has one for about $220.

 

The cat is attached to the turbo and flanged on the other side aswell. A universal cat wont work

 

Labree will make a custom one to fit and Magnaflow has a cat designed for the Audi 1.8T.

 

Really? I've heard that the cat is the biggest restrictor in the exhaust system (for the B6 at least).

Is it different for B6 vs. B5?
