Default High Oil Temps!?

Ok, so in my other post about the boost gauge someone pointed out that my oil temps where high. Last night when I was driving I took another picture of my oil temp. What do you think? I wasn't driving hard at all and it was raining outside and about 45 degrees. I am runningMobile 110w30 and it'sa 99.5 A4 1.8TQT. Here's a pic:

Oh and I am also getting REALLY crappy gas milage. I was on the highway and was only getting 20 mpg and was going 60 mph. I think it could be just because I need a new air filter, but anything else? Oh and I have a vacuum leak as well I think. My vacuum at idle is about 11. How do you guys check for that? Someone suggested that you spray your vacuum lines with propane and see if the idle changes? Is that a good idea? Thanks!!!

P.S. I did a little searching but some of the answers I got didn't make sense. Sorry if thishas already been posted. Thanks

Josh

Your oil temperature is OK.You should have codes read.It should be
225 degrees F in hot weather.
Your idle speed is high. Check the large vacuum hose, the "L" shaped
one on the left side of the engine and the "Y" shaped one in back of the engine.
You may need new spark plugs.

My idle is not high, I was driving when I took that! LOL It was taken on my phone while raining outside and driving through a puddel. Got kind of scary when I almost hit another car. LOL actually that I wouldn't be laughing. Nevermind...

Your temp is fine there... It was me who said it looked high in the other thread. Maybe I misread it, but it looked like your needle was right bellow the 250 mark which would bea tad high for not being summer or not driving like a fooool. You shouldnt be using 10w30 though, only 5w40 or 5w30 is recomended for your engine year round.

Oh, ok, I will be doing an oil change here soon (about 500 miles or so most likely.) I am thinking about also running a can of sea foam through it. Is that a good idea since I have been using the wrong oil?

No I wouldnt use any engine oil treatments unless you have reason to suspect sludge. As long as you are using the correct oil grade and it is full synthetic you should have no worries. If anything, do an autorx treatment. A lot of people swear by that compared to seafoam.

10w30 should be fine in your car. It has a higher viscosity than 5w30 cold but once up to temp they retain the same viscosity.

There is no VW 502 spec 10w30 available that im aware of. Im sure Audi recomends certain types of oil forcertain reasons. I think a lower viscosity on cold start ups is important for the 1.8t because it will circulate to/through the turbo better at the most critical time/on a cold dry startup.
