Default a hole in the bellhousing? how?

well my first gear has a chipped tooth which makes a noise i cant stand. i decided to go ahead and order a used tranny. i picked it up today and didnt realize until i got home that there was a small hole in the bell housing. i dont have time to order another trannsmission (school begins in 3 weeks) so im gunna go ahead and use it anyway. it has 100 day warrenty so i can return it later if i need. im just puzzeled by the hole. i mean what could have caused it. maybe the throw out bear blew apart? clutch springs came out? pressure plate lost an arm? any ideas?

I wouldn't be worried about the hole as much as what condition the inside of the transmission is in. If it seems fine, then I would just say "meh"

well the tranny is good. it only has 60XXX on it (confirmed). its a small hole that doesnt look like it weakens the overall bellhouse.

I would never put that tranny in my car. I wish you luck.

definitely a weak spot check if there are further cracks in that area that would cause problems later on or get it welded
