I thought I blew my motor today... mind you, it's a bone stock '01 1.8T...
I was cruising w/ my buddies this morning going to get some breakfast... 2 of them on bikes (03 GSXR600 & 01 F4i) and one in an '03 Evo. Needless to say I was behind them. Well I'm in second with it floored around 5k rpms and I hear POP!!!!! I hit the gas and I hear BLUB! BLUB! BLUB! BLUB! Like I blew a hose or something. I pull over, and we pop the hood. HOLY SH@#*#! I see a hole in the plastic cover which is over the top of the motor, with a rod which busted thru which is sticking out 6 inches!
It ended up being the spark plug which was too loose. Under full throttle it popped the whoe spark plug assembly out and thru my engine cover. No threads were stripped (THANK GODDDD!) and it threaded right back in. WHEW!
