Default Hood loose

2001 1.8t quattro hood is loose and vibrating at idle. If I push down on the hood it has maybe 1/8th inch of play or a bit more. I looked at the hood latch and it looks fine. I tried adjusting the catch and adjusting the hood position at the hinges. Also sprayed the crap out of it with WD40. I couldn't make the play go away. The mechanism is locking up fine it just isn't "tight".

I guess before I bought and installed a new hood latch I wanted to see if anyone had any tips or had seen something like this before. Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Fiver5

Open the hood and look in the front corners. There should be some rubber hexagonal stoppers that adjust the hood.

As above. Adjust the rubber pumpers at the hood corners by turning them to extend.

Thanks for the advice guys. That took care of it. Actually I saw them last night when I was tinkering around with the hood but didn't realize they were adjustable. I think I had too many cocktails or maybe it was the WD40 in the air. There are 4, 2 near the headlights and 2 near the center. Cranked each one a full turn and the hood was nice and tight after that.
