How do I increase HP on my 2002 1.8T
I have a 2002 A4 1.8 T with 75000 miles with no add ons or chips. I would like to increase my horsepower by 25 or more. What is the easiest and most effective way to do that ?
Also does anyone know if the CV axle for a 2.8L would fit on a 1.8T ? I have a faulty left CV axle and am looking to replace it, I found a website online www.racepages.com that has a brand new axle for the 2.8L and a refurbished axle for my model. I want to get the new part instead but I am not sure if it'll fit on my 1.8T.

Chiping the car is the biggest gain you will get from any mod, short of a bigger turbo.
Most chips for the b6 increase hp about 40 or so crank hp, and bump up the torque quite a bit as well.

How much does it generally cost to chip the 1.8T and is it something I can do myself or do I need to go to a shop ? If it's DIY does anyone have any instructions or sites where i can buy the chip ?
You need to have it done at a tuner dealer, you would wanna tune your car with REVO software since your a B6. Cost $500 dollars, is the most reliable way to get the power you want... not many other ways, and no other ways for less money. I guess you could testpipe your car for 15hp to the crank, but its illegal and you won't pass emissions.. thats cheaper than a chip though
APR or REVO for the B6 - search around for a local dealer - if you have a dealer near you then go with them - otherwise ship it off. APR pays for your shipping, at least they do if you buy it through ECStuning.com 3 days and you have it back.
Let us not forget GIAC in the chip wars. You can pass emmissions with a test pipe. Depends on the state. In PA we have visual and OBD scan. Most places don't know where the CAT is anyhow. If it passes OBD (and it will with REVO or APR as they disregard codes for CAT removal), then a lot of times you're golden, because they don't know where the CAT is, and their logic is that if CAT was bad or removed, it would throw a code.

If it involves an MBC then don't do it, I see your scepitcal to even have your ECU proffesionally tuned. MBC takes knowledge and the ability to trouble-shoot your car if problems arise. If your a novice I don't recommend that mod.
I would just go with the Chip, if I were you.
